Course Description

The Master’s in Journalism in Multiplatform Environments aims to correspond to the profound transformations that are taking place in the media in particular and in the general public. It has a matrix that is innovative, in line with the 1st cycle of Communication Sciences. 
This 2nd cycle in JOURNALISM is integrated in a perspective of accompanying the great changes that the plethora of technologies are introducing in society in general and in journalism companies in particular.
It is also in line with the prospect that it is being developed on a national scale in the inclusion and dynamization of the country for preparing highly qualified staff in digital technologies. In this context, the national and European directives of 'INCoDe.2030' and 'Digital Single Market' have been considered.
This is a cycle that, through technical and scientific expertise, responds to lines of social, economic and cultural development of the information and knowledge society, based on the differentiated networks that technology platforms are providing.
This 2nd cycle of Communication Sciences is structured in three semesters, with a total of 90 ECTS.
The first two semesters have three and five curricular units, in the 1st and 2nd semesters respectively, while the third semester is entirely dedicated to a final evaluation work: dissertation, internship report or project.
In all units, the intersection of several digital communication technologies is an indispensable requirement for the quality of the training and research process. Multiplatforming, based on technological multiplexing and interactivity, constitutes the central axis of this 2nd cycle of Multiplatform Journalism.

Employment Prospects

Career opportunities are essentially in the field of journalism but extend to the newsroom and to digital editing in general, as well as to content production in different supports and in the most diverse organizations.
New emerging professions related to the Internet and digital networks are also employment prospects of this Master's course. These may include digital consultant, digital communication analyst, information architect, digital information specialist, digital information manager, among others.
Another employment opportunity for Master’s students in Multiplatform Journalism is research within the field of opinion research companies and analysis of the impact of technologies in social communication and organization.

Equipment

The new, functional and modeling installations of ISMAI meet the desired requirements, with emphasis on audio, video, internet and other electronic technologies within the framework of different laboratories and, more specifically, the Multiplatform Studio.
In this context, it is important to note that this Studio is equipped with a wide range of cutting-edge technologies that are adjusted to the  course requirements.
In addition to a teleprompter plateau, TV and Radio sets and technical booths, the Studio is equipped for virtual sets, for recording and dubbing, as well as for different multi-platform productions.
