Course description
Aims of the course: Introduce participants to the Portuguese language and culture; develop Portuguese language communication skills at level A1.1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Course programme
1. The written alphabet; Portuguese phonetics;
2. Topics: personal identification; meeting other people; daily life activities; family and housing; Portuguese culture
3. Grammatical structures: affirmative, negative and interrogative sentences; adjective-noun concordance; determiners; pronouns; feminine and plural nouns (general rules); present tense of regular and irregular verbs.
Speaker/trainer
Mónica Castro is a native Portuguese language teacher who holds a degree in Portuguese Studies from the University of
Porto. Along her professional career she has taught Portuguese mainly at higher education institutions and professional
schools in Portugal, but also at a school in Angola, where she held the positions of teacher trainer and pedagogical director.
She started working at ISMAI in 2015, where she currently teaches Portuguese to speakers of other languages in the scope
of the bachelor’s degree in Tourism.
Course fee and registration
Before 31 March: 265 €
After 1 April: 300€
1 May. (Fees include lunch at ISMAI + one convivial dinner + 1 cultural activity)
